We will show the world that life can be done differently.
Farm Where You Live started with a simple idea: what if people who longed for a slower, more self-reliant life could find each other right where they are?
In 2022, we hosted our first event at a very hot campground in Upstate South Carolina. We hoped a couple hundred people might show up. Instead, far more came than we expected. That day showed us something important — there are families hungry to learn, connect, and build a different kind of life together.
Over the next few years, we hosted six homesteading festivals and welcomed thousands of guests who were eager to learn practical skills and meet others on the same path. We made friends, built community, and learned some hard lessons along the way.
Farm Where You Live has grown across events and online platforms. But growth hasn’t just been about numbers — it’s been about discovering what works, what doesn’t, and what truly matters.
At its heart, Farm Where You Live is about this:
You don’t need hundreds of acres to live more intentionally. You can start right where you are.
In a world where so much arrives wrapped in plastic and shipped from far away, homesteading offers something grounding — growing real food, learning practical skills, and teaching the next generation how to care for what they’ve been given.
We’re still learning. We’re still refining. And we’re committed to building something sustainable — for our family and for this community.
The future of Farm Where You Live isn’t about bigger events or louder launches. It’s about deeper roots. It’s about helping families grow confidence, resilience, and connection — whether that’s on 20 acres or a backyard garden.
We believe homesteading can be done anywhere.
And we’re living that out, one season at a time.
