Join us for a butchering and animal processing intensive in upstate South Carolina. Students will learn to gut, skin, quarter and properly butcher a whole pig. This intensive also covers cooking, canning, and packaging. A complete field to storage experience.

INTRODUCTION TO HOMESTEAD CHICKENS

We’ll cover all the basics, from choosing the right breed and setting up a coop, to feeding, caring for, and even butchering your birds.
 

In this course, you’ll learn:

  • How to choose the right breed of chicken
  • The essentials of outfitting a chicken coop
  • How to provide proper nutrition and hydration to your birds, including what to feed them and when
  • How to keep your chickens healthy and prevent common illnesses and parasites
  • How to manage chicken behavior, including egg production and rooster behavior
  • How to humanely butcher a chicken, including techniques for processing and preserving meat.

INTRODUCTION TO HOMESTEAD RABBITS

Join us for an informative and hands-on class designed for aspiring homesteaders and rabbit enthusiasts! In this introductory course, you’ll learn the essentials of raising rabbits on your homestead. We will cover everything from selecting and housing your rabbits to breeding practices and processing techniques.
